The death has been reported as the first Nigerian Principal of Queen’s College, Dr. (Mrs.) Iphigernia Elujoke Coker, aged 95. General Secretary, Queen’s College Old Girls’ Association, Ayodele Onakoya, who formally announced the transition, said she passed on December 23, 2019, in Lagos. The late Coker, who was awarded an honorary Ph.D. degree in 2017 by the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, was described as the college’s longest-serving principal. According to Onakoya: “The ninth and first Nigerian Principal of Queen’s College, Lagos, since its inception in 1927, Mrs. Coker was the longest-serving Principal of the school for 14 years (1963 -1977).
